What’s My RemARCs?

My RemARCs is just that, my remarks.

So, who am I?

Well, my name is Andrew Creighton. I’m a 26 year old guy who’s just trying to navigate this crazy life like everyone else. The only difference is I navigate it using a wheelchair, and I write down all of my random thoughts, feelings, and ideas for everyone in the entire world to read… okay, maybe not the entire world, but maybe someday.

You see, I was born with a disease called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. SMA is a neuromuscular disease that causes a persons muscles to slowly waste away. This makes it difficult to do just about everything. Eating, drinking, breathing, moving my arms, legs, hands, and fingers… everything. I’ve used a power wheelchair since I was 2, but none of that has stopped me from living a pretty remARCable life so far. See what I did there?

I’ll be talking more about my life with SMA in many of my upcoming articles, but for now, if you’d like to learn more about Spinal Muscular Atrophy, CureSMA.org is a great resource and organization that my family and I work with to raise awareness and funding for research. Check ‘em out!

As for My RemARCs, there’s so much negativity in our world right now, I want this to be a place where you can come to get away from all of that and read something positive. Whether it’s about movies, TV, sports, current events in the world or America – or weather it’s about my life living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy- My RemARCs is going to be a place full of humor, sarcasm (lots of sarcasm), hope, faith, and the ups and downs of everyday life. That doesn’t mean we’re not going to take on some of the heavier or harder topics in life, we are, but we’ll always do it in way that try’s to invoke thought, conversation, and growth. None of that judgey, preachy stuff from us.

From time to time we’ll have guest writers. They might be friends of mine, or acquaintances, or maybe just a random stranger I pulled off the street, who knows?! The point is, you won’t be hearing just from me. Most people think that I know pretty much everything about everything, but there are some things other people can contribute too… however small it may be. Just kidding. Anyone else who writes on this site probably knows a lot more about life, or whatever the topic may be, than I do. That’s why I asked them… to make me look good.

Told you there’d be a lot of sarcasm.

So, if that sounds like something you’d be up for, we’d love for you join us, and please give us a like, a follow, or whatever it is that you do. And if this doesn’t sound like something you’re up for, well, we didn’t really want you here anyway! No, seriously. Don’t come back to this page ever again.

See, more sarcasm. Actually, if that doesn’t sound like something you’re up for I hope you’ll give us a chance to change your mind. Hope to see you back here soon.

Until then… live remARCably.

Andrew
